PWSD#3 - Water Rate Increase Effective with the January 2024 Billing

Effective with the January billing, the minimum monthly charge (including 1,000 gallons) will increase from $21.00 to $24.00.  The rate for each additional 1,000 gallons will increase from $17.00 to $18.50.  Customers with an average monthly usage of 5,000 gallons will see an increase of $9.00 per month.

A water rate study by the Missouri Rural Water Association examined PWSD#3's current and future projected revenues and expenses to determine whether water rates were sufficient to cover operating expenses.  The water rate study concluded that the PWSD#3 should increase its water rates to cover the increased costs associated with the production and distribution of drinking water and the maintenance of the water system.

At the November 15th Board Meeting, our Board of Directors made the difficult decision to increase water rates to help offset the high inflation and increased operational expenses.  The last water rate increase occurred in 2019.  It is important to remember that the Board of Directors that determines water rates also pays the same rates for their own homes.  This decision was not taken lightly but is necessary to maintain our water system.
